Researcher from Veterans Affairs Research Communications shows an study over mouse resulting treatment of glaucoma by infusion of stem cells. The study may play lead role in treatment of glaucoma in future.
Glaucoma is a damage of optical nerve associated with a buildup of pressure inside the eye. "We believe that replacement of damaged or lost trabecular meshwork cells with healthy cells can lead to functional restoration following transplantation into glaucoma eyes," writes Kuehn on his lab's website. The concern research study recently appears in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
