A new book gives readers a peek into the mind of kids on which they utilize the best global health catastrophe: the COVID-19 pandemic. Its debut is written by award-winning children’s author Bijal Vachharajani.

Funny, thoughtful, wise and empathetic, it showcases the imagination and the thoughts of the current creation. Also, it conveys the diverse”viewpoints, questions, thoughts and answers” to the pandemic and resultant lockdowns.

“The depth of their ideas doesn’t astound me — children are way smarter than grown-ups. However, not all children get to tell their tales. Not all of them have access to the Internet, to facilities, to online instruction, to distanced homes and neighbourhoods. “While some are safe in the home, so many have had to walk for miles to get to their homes. Inequalities have arrived at the forefront, and it’s essential that privilege be examined and challenged. So many kids in this book are thinking about that,” writes Vachharajani from the publication.

The leading authors of the publication are: Archita Agrawal, Ishaan Ghosh, Lavanya Sinha, Mira Gupta, Omkar Mantri, Sharvari Sonawani, Shiv Malik, Shivani Sharma, Shreya Aiyer, Sofia Kakar, Tishya Tara and Uk!Yo.

From some writers wondering”why her dreams have gone lost” or even”when the star of hope will ever shine again”, to others turning to history to see”exactly what lockdowns would have been like in ancient times” or”searching for relief in scientific thought, in writing and in books”; the stories are heartrending and deeply emotional of lives lost and the stark inequalities that the stunt has laid bare.

According to publisher Talking Cub (children’s imprint of Speaking Tiger), during the group there runs a sense of time lost and obtained — of how this phase of global history is a bend at time.

Writing is one way of reminding us of beauty even at the worst of times. Creativity opens a window to our souls and lets us speak our ideas in a medium that attracts us joy and comfort. We need to promote creativity in kids now more than ever,” said writer Shome Ghosh.

The book can be found on online and offline shops throughout the nation.
