The West Bengal government in a joint effort with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is set to start clinical preliminaries of gaining strength plasma treatment with the goal of treating COVID-19 patients in the city, after the Drug Control General of India gave its endorsement for the joint exertion, an authority said on Saturday.
The motivation behind the clinical preliminaries is to comprehend the adequacy of blood plasma of a recuperated COVID-19 patient in the treatment of others experiencing the infection, he said.
The path are probably going to begin at the recently built Critical Care Unit (CCU) of the Beliaghata ID Hospital one week from now, he said.
“The CCU unit of the Beliaghata ID Hospital is practically prepared and the clinical preliminaries of the improving plasma treatment may begin one week from now,” the authority told PTI.
The CCU unit of the emergency clinic has 16 beds, he said.
The preliminaries, financed and bolstered by the CSIR, will have senior specialists like Yogiraj Roy, Biswanath Sharma Biswas and Shekhar Ranjan Paul as the clinical agents, he said.
The treatment includes taking antibodies from the blood of an individual who has recouped from COVID-19 and transfusing those antibodies into a functioning coronavirus patient to assist the insusceptible framework with fighting the contamination.
