As increasing age of science and technology researchers from Columbia University detected a Virus in ocean Seal having characteristics similar to Hepatitis- A virus in Humans. According to researchers this study could play an important role in study of hepatitis A virus.
The concern finding release in July/August issue of mBio a Journal of American Society of Microbiology. Hepatitis A is deadly virus and killed 1.4 billion people around the world annually and this deadly disease his highly contagious and mainly transfer through faecal oral route or food or water.
Scientist while working on infection in seal which deadly influenza responsible for death of 150 harbor seals in coast of New England in 2011 detected this viral strain having similarity with Hepatitis A virus. This mystery no doubt can play an important role in treatment of Hepatitis A virus.
According to Researchers,
"Until now, we didn't know that hepatitis A had any close relatives, and we thought that only humans and other primates could be infected by such viruses," said lead author Simon Anthony, assistant professor of Epidemiology. "Our findings show that these so-called 'hepatoviruses' are not in fact restricted to primates, and suggest that many more may also exist in other wildlife species."
