Dear Readers, Welcome to the latest issue of The Magazine
The PhotoSyn™ high power LED photoreactor, from Uniqsis, eliminates problems associated with traditional batch methods enabling synthetic chemists to routinely scale-up their photochemistry reactions from milligrams to several kilograms / day.
The PhotoSyn™ is designed to provide scientists with a high-power LED light source for continuous flow applications. Using a pair of enclosed curved cooled LED arrays, the PhotoSyn™ efficiently focuses light inwards onto a central coil reactor. Each array is composed of 360 individual LEDs that provide a high photon intensity to facilitate reactions in coil reactors (up to 52 ml) and enabling easy reaction scale-up.
A PhotoSyn™ high power LED photoreactor with controller
The unit is available with different standard LED configurations including 365nm and 455nm as well as a 3-colour option of green, white, and blue. Custom excitation wavelength versions of the PhotoSyn™ are also available on request. Offering the versatility to be optimised to suit your photochemical application, the PhotoSyn™ is designed to integrate with the Uniqsis Cold Coil™ and the Polar Bear Plus Flow™ reactor modules.
To maximise safety, PhotoSyn™ has been designed to operate without any light leakage, and therefore does not require a tinted or light-tight enclosure. Safety interlocks are also fitted to prevent the possibility of accidental exposure to high intensity LED light should an attempt be made to remove the PhotoSyn™ from the reactor module whilst in operation.
