A day-long program showed pharmaceutical and chemical researchers how integrated data and AI tools can speed up research and development decisions. CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society, welcomed scientists, researchers, analysts, and innovation leaders from India’s pharmaceutical and chemical industries to a seminar on Sept. 8, 2026, at the Navi Mumbai Marriott Hotel.
Titled “Accelerate Innovation with Trusted Scientific Intelligence and AI-Powered Insights,” the event demonstrated how integrated scientific intelligence, patent and intellectual property data, and AI-powered tools support research and development decisions, and introduced CAS solutions built for each stage of the innovation lifecycle.
The program opened with “From Data to Insight: The CAS Curation Story,” an introduction to how CAS turns complex scientific information into structured, trusted content. Madhav Kulkarni, Sr. Intellectual Capital Manager at Dow, then spoke on a hypothetical pharmaceutical case study, “From Patent Landscape to Product Development”, created with the ACSII team, tracing a product’s path from molecular innovation and synthesis through process optimization and commercial formulation using CAS SciFinder®, CAS IP Finder®, Powered by STN™, and CAS Newton℠. CAS extends its sincere appreciation to Kulkarni for sharing his valuable expertise and insights with the group.
Later sessions covered recent developments in intellectual property workflows through the CAS SciFinder Discovery Platform™, custom solutions built on CAS Newton, CAS Connections℠, and CAS Custom Services℠, along with applications across key stages of drug discovery. One session introduced CAS BioFinder®, which combines pharmaceutical data with AI-enhanced predictive technology to help researchers prioritize drug targets and candidates.
Attendances from leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical organizations highlighted the growing interest in leveraging scientific intelligence and AI-powered technologies to accelerate research and innovation across India. Participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions and a dynamic question-and-answer session focused on patent intelligence, intellectual property strategies, and emerging approaches to improving research productivity and decision-making.
A live CAS helpdesk provided attendees with valuable one-on-one interactions with CAS experts, allowing attendees to explore specific research challenges, receive personalized guidance, and learn how CAS solutions can support innovation, competitive intelligence, prior art analysis, and intellectual property workflows. These discussions fostered meaningful knowledge exchange and encouraged collaboration among researchers, scientists, and information professionals. Throughout the event, participants shared perspectives on the evolving role of AI in scientific discovery and the importance of trusted scientific data in driving informed research outcomes. The enthusiastic engagement reflected the scientific community’s strong commitment to adopting advanced digital tools that enhance efficiency, accelerate insights, and support breakthrough innovation.
The event concluded with valuable networking opportunities, enabling attendees to connect with peers, industry experts, and the CAS team. CAS extends its sincere appreciation to all participants for their active involvement and insightful contributions. As scientific research continues to evolve, CAS remains committed to empowering the global research community through trusted content, cutting-edge technologies, and actionable intelligence that help transform ideas into discoveries and research into real-world impact.
