On Tuesday, the Narcotics Control Bureau of the Kolkata unit has summoned the chief of a very well-known pharmaceutical company regarding the stock of Cough syrup which is banned in Bangladesh.
As the cough syrup contains psychoactive drug which primarily affects the CNS causing several changes in perception, mood,consciousness and behaviour, it is highly abused by the youth of Bangladesh. The Ministry of Home Affairs closely monitors over the stocks but still every year’s thousands of coughs syrup are seized from the near-by areas of India-Bangladesh border.
“The product of this company had earlier been seized by this zonal unit on various occasions en-route to Bangladesh. They were being transported illegally.
