Healthcare firm Baxter India on Tuesday said it has received consent from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) for the usage of its Oxiris blood purification filter to the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
The filter is meant to be utilised in the seriously ill COVID-19 patients needing blood purification where excess inflammatory mediators are found, Baxter India said in a statement.
“The COVID-19 cases in India are spiralling and putting pressure on our the healthcare program.
Throughout blood flow therapy, the individual’s blood flow passes through the Oxiris filter set, at which it could adsorb inflammatory mediators, and remove fluid, electrolytes and uremic toxins, until returning the individual’s blood into your human body, Baxter India said.
