Abbott intends to send tens of millions of tests from September, ramping to 50 million tests a month at the beginning of October.
BinaxNOW is the size of a credit card and gives results in 15 minutes. Abbott intends to market this evaluation for 5 (approx Rs 370), making it more reasonably priced than a host of different alternatives.
“BinaxNOW uses a nasal swab to gather specimens from those suspected of having coronavirus and a reactive card to find COVID-19. No equipment is required to process samples or see test outcomes,” Abbott said in a press release on August 27.
Employing the product, COVID-19 evaluation can be done by doctors, nurses, school nurses, medical assistants and assistants, pharmacists, employer occupational health specialists with minimum instruction and a patient prescription,” Abbott claimed.
The business will also establish a mobile app NAVICA for iPhone and Android devices. The program makes it possible for people to store, monitor and access their COVID-19 test results and will function as temporary electronic wellness pass.
“The status will be renewed each time a man or woman has been tested through their healthcare provider together with the date of the test result. Organisations will have the ability to look at and check the data on a mobile device to ease entry into facilities along with hand-washing, social distancing, increased cleaning and mask-wearing,” it said.
“While BinaxNOW is the hardware that makes understanding your COVID-19 standing potential, the NAVICA app is the digital network which enables people to share this information with people who have to understand,” said Robert B. Ford, president and chief executive officer, Abbott.
“We’re shooting our know-how from our digitally-connected medical apparatus and applying it to our diagnostics in a time when folks expect their health data to be electronic and readily available.”
Globally, there have been over 2.40 crore verified cases of COVID-19. More than 8.20 lakh people have died up to now.
