Drug firm Wockhardt on Monday said it has entered into an agreement with the UK authorities to fill-finish COVID-19 vaccines, and will tackle manufacturing in its centre in North Wales.
The manufacturing will be undertaken at CP Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of the firm based in North Wales, Wockhardt said in a statement.
As per the details of the pact, the company has reserved manufacturing capacity to permit for supply of numerous vaccines to the UK government in its struggle against COVID-19, such as AZD1222, the vaccine co-invented from the University of Oxford and its spinout firm Vaccitech, and accredited by AstraZeneca, it included.
“We are proud to be collaborating with the UK authorities to create vaccines available and also the arrangement brings in a huge sense of purpose and pride, it upholds our continuing commitment to fight against such a pandemic of global human significance,” Wockhardt Founder Chairman Habil Khorakiwala said.
