The World Health Organization’s (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated on August 18 that nations placing their own interests ahead of the others in trying to make sure supplies of a potential coronavirus vaccine are creating the pandemic worse.

“(Acting) strategically and globally is in fact in each country’s national interest – no one is safe until everyone is protected,” he informed a digital briefing calling for the end to”vaccine nationalism”.

Ghebreysus stated he’d delivered a letter to all WHO members requesting them to join with the multilateral COVAX vaccine campaign.

Over 21.9 million individuals are reported to be infected from the novel coronavirus globally and 772,647 have died, according to a Reuters tally.
