Researcher from Cardiff University suggests by blocking the release of certain molecules cold help in wiping out few common asthma symptoms like mucous mucus production, swelling (edema), and constriction of the airways in the lungs. This important research recently appears in Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
According to report about 5.4 million of people receiving treatment of asthma and more than millions of children in UK only and we believe that this novel discovery and work led by Dr Stephan Caucheteux, from Cardiff University's School of Medicine. The results would help for better treatment of asthma sufferers.
"We found that by adding a signaling molecule, Interleukin 1 (IL-1) using an experimental model of allergic asthma, the symptoms would worsen dramatically," explained Dr Caucheteux."Therefore by blocking production of IL-1, we could alleviate the symptoms, such as mucus, swelling and constriction."
