New Delhi, Aug 22 (PTI) The apex health research body, ICMR, is in the process of developing a vaccine portal which will offer information associated with the COVID-19 vaccine growth in India and abroad, with the majority of the upgrades in several regional languages along with English. The goal of producing the portal is to provide all information and updates concerning the COVID-19 vaccine growth at one stage as all of the information in this aspect is scattered as of now, Samiran Panda, Head of Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases at ICMR, told PTI.
The theory behind making the updates offered in regional languages would be to make sure every citizen can get the info. The portal is very likely to be operational by next week, Panda said.
The portal site would be made operational in phases. In the first phase, the portal site will offer all information linked to COVID-19 vaccine in India and overseas.
Within a time period, data about all other vaccines used to prevent several other ailments will be put on the portal site, he explained.
In India, three COVID-19 vaccine candidates, such as two native ones, are at different phases of clinical trials.
The Serum Institute of India, that has partnered with AstraZeneca for manufacturing the COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by the University of Oxford, has been allowed for running Phase 2 and 3 human clinical trials from this candidate at India. It’s very likely to begin the trials next week.
