BioNTech Expects immunisation effect of COVID-19 vaccine will last at least a year

BioNTech’s co-founder and chief executive said that he was hopeful that the protective effect of its experimental COVID-19 vaccine, co-developed with Pfizer, would endure for at least a year.
Both companies earlier on Monday became the primary drugmakers to launch successful trial statistics, stating their vaccine was demonstrated to be 90 percent successful, a major success in the fight against the pandemic.
While it was not yet known how long the protection could last, study on recovered sufferers and earlier findings in their vaccine led him to believe protection wouldn’t be short-lived.
