According to report published by Cancer Research, UK and UK Health forum,approx 3.7 million of obesity cases may reduce by 2025 through applying tax over all of sugar drinks. According to brief report, about 20% tax over sugar drinks is effecting in reducing approx 5% sugar cases equal to 3.7 million people in UK.
The report also includes if these taxes are continued, then it saves NHS funding alone about £10 million in healthcare and social care costs by 2025.
Alison Cox, Cancer Research UK's director of cancer prevention, said: "The ripple effect of a small tax on sugary drinks is enormous. These numbers make it clear why we need to act now before obesity becomes an even greater problem."
