Indian drugmaker Lupin Ltd has closed among its manufacturing plants at Gujarat after at 17 employees at your website tested positive for COVID-19, two government officials said on Tuesday.

Lupin, one of India’s top five drugmakers, failed to immediately answer requests for comment. The business has some 1-1 manufacturing plants at the Ankleshwar site in Gujarat state, which is spread out over 40 acres and it has 984 employees, according to the company site.

Employees in one of those plants, which produces tuberculosis medication, have tested positive recently, said MD Modia, ” a senior district official. “The plant was shut on July 12 after the cases were confirmed,” explained Modia, adding that the site has been sanitized. “No cases have been reported by the other plants at the center and their operations are untouched,” he said.

Other employees who come in contact with those who have tested positive may also be in the process of being analyzed, said the other senior government officer by the Bharuch district.

Lupin makes all from heart drugs to diabetes and asthma medicines that are sold in over 100 countries, with its biggest market being the united states.

As the number of infections from the book coronavirus is falling from several countries, in India, cases have been rising by the thousands in recent weeks.

India had 906,752 cases of the coronavirus using 28,498 new ailments reported on Tuesday, according to statistics from the national health ministry, that the next highest total in the world behind Brazil and the USA.
