Chennai, June 29 (PTI) Using a Siddha”addition” treatment to allopathic therapy in a government COVID-19 care facility giving encouraging results, the Central Council for Research at Siddha (CCRS) will shortly start a research on 60 coronavirus patients in Vysarpadi in town.
The new clinical trial aims to bring the effectiveness of this Siddha group of medications and”Kabasura kudineer” as prophylactic made to treat or protect against COVID-19. The add-on treatment was previously tried in the COVID-19 care facility in the Government Stanley Medical College Hospital.
Kabasura kudineer is a natural mix, comprising dry components of ginger, pippali, clove, cirukancori origin and several different herbs. “We’re anticipating the amount from the Clinical Trials Registry-India (CTRI) to start the trial per week,” Dr K Kanakavalli, director general of CCRS, stated. CCRS is the apex body pertaining to study from Siddha system of medicine. It works towards the scientific investigation of Siddha system of medicine through clinical research, drug researchand medicinal plants research, basic analysis, literary study and documentation.
The new research is currently in sync with the directive issued from the Union Ayush Ministry as well as the approval from the Tamil Nadu government. “About 60 asymptomatic, moderate and mild coronavirus positive patients could be taken up for research in the COVID-19 Care Centre created by Greater Chennai Corporation in Vysarpadi,” she told PTI on Monday. “Siddha, that was recently attempted at Stanley GH as add-on treatment on 30 positive patients, demonstrated effective and dependent on the results we’ve opted to take the new study,” she explained. Before, the Siddha Central Research Institute (SCRI) here ran a prophylactic research on 15,000 moderate or mild coronavirus patients and people who had been asymptomatic. These studies are directed at assessing Kabasura kudineer as medication of choice. Lately, a retrospective study on the herbal mix and category of Siddha medications was ran in Coimbatore.
