Number of Algal species found in sea some of which are edible and used extensively as food in coastal cuisines around the world. Seaweeds contain high level of Iodine in comparison of other foods. Researcher found that a species of red algae may play an important role in fighting with few common type of food allergies.

The concern research appears in ACS' Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. Food allergies are an abnormal immune response to food and are global health issue. According to sources up to 12 million people in the United States suffering from food allergies. On the way working for find out better treatment of food allergies researcher found that type of red algae named G. lemaneiformis has an important feature for treating food allergies.

Research had an experiment over mice with exposure to tropomyosin, a protein that is a major shellfish allergen after feding them red algae G. lemaneiformis and another group with no treat ment of red algae polysaccharides and at the result researcher found that group of mice with treatment of red algae polysaccharide is reduces allergy symptoms in compare to control group of mice without any treatment of red algae polysaccharide
